How the Chinese Immigrants were Treated:
A cheaper and a faster way toward the west was on the railway across north America that encouraged people to move. When the
gold mine were dried up it was so hard to find jobs, and even worse the wages
were going down. A lot of the new arrivals would always take out their
frustrations on the Chinese. Organization of labour competition and the Chinese
workers were under paid. The Chinese workers were really upset because the men
were outnumbered by the women in the Chinese communities. They argued and could
not so, Chinese workers would compete for jobs with the men who wouldn’t.

Canadian Pacific Railway:
Between the years 1881-1884 17,000 Chinese people came to Canada to work. These workers worked for as little as $1 a day to
feed themselves and pay for their gear. The white people didn’t even though they
were paid $1.50-$2.50 per day. In addition to having less pay, the Chinese were
given the most dangerous and worst jobs. They blow up paths in the rocks. There
were many disasters. Chinese workers camped next to the railway. Building of an
Asia encampment on the railway at Kamloops B.C. began in 1885. The biggest step
in the building of British Columbia following coming to confederation in 1871
was the building of the C.P.R. railway. The railway stretched that connected the
youngest province to the trade and money source to the remaining part of the
country. On the way to Kamloops lake part more than 2 quarters or about 9,000
railway workers, were Chinese.

Head Tax:
The taxes for entering Canada were called
head tax. They were put on the Chinese immigrants by the federal government. A total of $10 was offered but
done to many the tax was $50, even though Chinese workers were highly critical
to assembling the C.P.R. when they got to finishing the railway. It was complete
in the year 1885. The federal government charged a $50 head tax on the Chinese
immigrants. This evidently discriminatory tax was implemented for only the
Chinese and never then less exceptions made for a little park of governments,
clergy, sellers, students, and physicists. The tax made a very heavy money
burden. This tax also invented a big source of revenue crack by the B.C. and
federal government above the next 40 years by the year 1923. When Chinese law
excluded from immigrating to Canada as they made over $22 million was raised.
Prises records kept track of every single Chinese that ever entered Canada as
well as all of the Chinese that already lived there. Ironically these recordings
of all the 97 thousand Chinese gave the U.S.A an impressive glance of who they
were allowing members to look for them and researchers to look in to the impact
on Canada.
Food and Health:
Some Chinese immigrants were so poor they
stole food to feed their families. Chinese restaurants have become very popular
in North America for both Chinese and non-Chinese people. Traditional Chinese
food is most served that’s because the first immigrants that came from the south
to north America the sweetness and seafood makes it even more popular and that’s
why it’s mostly served usually with rice.
The food must be fresh and either boiled,
steamed , or stir fried the food is cut into smaller pieces and eaten
deliciously with chopsticks. Some Chinese immigrants were so poor they stole
