Irish Immigrants:
Starvation
Irish people died often of starvation
because potato crops died and soup kitchens could not supply the needy and
orphans dreamed of having mothers while wondering the streets alone without any
supervision. Famine people were Ireland’s poorest people they did not have the
money to pay for food or pay taxes.
In the year of 1846-1852 thousands of Irish
people went to Canada and others trying died. Irish people went to Canada for a
very special reason because the English demanded them to pay taxes and they were
very poor.
They Did Not Stay Very Long
They did not stay in Canada for a long time
because some of them immigrated to the U.S.A those who had supplied Canada to be
more in 1850-1860.

September7th 1891. There is evidence of an earlier Ukrainian presence on the
North American continent .Early as 1718 there were Ukrainians among first white
traders Ivan Pylypiw and Wasyl Eleniak were the first two Ukraine
immigrants to Canada in 1891. Immigrants were excited for an exciting time on
the Canadian prairies. Canadian trains were filled with Europeans searching for
free land. 1900 eastern Europe immigration to Canada was in full swing. They
were looking for freedom to worship, free land, running from oppressive
governments. Europeans brought over small pocks to the First
Nations.

Ukraine left their homes for Canada most of them settled in Manitoba and

Polish Immigrants:

Early polish settlers:
In 1608 7 polish tradespeople came off of the brown wooden ships to James town in viginia. They were a steady number of poles. Leaving there home lands for them was a difficulte choice to make. As soon as they arrived they were examined for deasese. Sick people were quarintined, incurable people were sent backall the way to poland.
